Things To Do
The game viewing around camp is thrilling. Water crossings are part of the adventure and watching zebra standing belly-deep grazing is a sight to see! Because Sanctuary Stanley’s Camp is set in a private concession, there is the opportunity to venture out after dark on night game drives to see the nocturnal animals. Key wildlife include: lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, cheetah, giraffe, impala, zebra, wild dog, hyena, and hippo.
The following activities are included in your stay:
Game Drives
Enjoy game drives, spotting wildlife from open-sided 4X4 vehicles, accompanied by professional guides. Because the camp is located on a private concession, guests have the opportunity to see animals up close on both morning and evening game drives to discover incredible nocturnal species.
Mokoro Excursions
The Okavango Delta is flooded for much of the year and when it is, guests can experience the gentle pace of a poled mokoro excursion along the narrow Delta channels. Sit back and relax as you glide through lily ponds on local dugout canoes while watching the surrounding wildlife. (Subject to water levels). Generally mokoros are available January to October but can’t be guaranteed.
Walking Safaris
Discover the signs of the bush, accompanied by your guide and armed ranger on exciting walking safaris. The wildlife is spectacular all year round and because the camp is set in a private concession guests can get very close in perfect safety with one of the guides.
Additional Activities
Scenic Helicopter Flights
Enjoy scenic helicopter flights over the permanent delta, exposing areas unreachable by vehicle or boat and showcasing the sheer enormity of the Okavango Delta. There is the option of the doors being removed for unrestricted photographic opportunities. Guests are able to choose between a 30, 45 or 60 minute tour in a three seater, one turbine Bell Jetranger helicopter. This activity is offered on a year round basis. Guests are able to choose when they would like to do the activity, however we would recommend early morning and late afternoon as this time usually provides the best light for photography. Preferred flight times can be requested in camp when making a booking. Additional activities are at an additional cost and can be pre-booked or while guests are in camp.
