Luxury with heart

Built on personal service, high standards, and a sense of adventure.

Swain Destinations began as a love story. Ian Swain, a true blue Aussie born in Brisbane, met his destiny in a New York nightclub in 1984 when he stole the heart of his soon-to-be wife, Linda (Prehatny) Swain. They were engaged in a month, married soon after, and in 1987 launched what would eventually become Swain Destinations.

The business grew with its compass set on personal service, high standards, and "No Worries Mate!" Today, that same family spirit still shapes how we work with travelers, partners, and each other.

"We're creating dynamic itineraries from scratch for each and every client. What makes a trip booked through Swain Destinations so remarkable is our level of service."

Trade Relationship Manager

Department
Sales & Marketing
Location
Remote. Regular travel to advisor markets and industry events.
Grow Swain's travel advisor channel through new business, account management, events, training, and market relationships.role details

About the role

Swain Destinations sells primarily through the trade: travel advisors and the consortia they belong to, including Virtuoso, American Express Travel, Signature, and Ensemble. This role exists to grow that channel. You are the person in the market winning new advisor relationships, deepening the ones we have, and making sure Swain is the first operator an advisor thinks of for Australia, New Zealand, the South Pacific, and Africa.

This is part new business, part account management. You hunt for productive new advisors and you keep our best ones engaged, supported, and selling.

What you'll do

  • Identify, pursue, and onboard new travel advisors and agencies, with a focus on productive accounts inside our consortia.
  • Own a portfolio of advisor relationships: stay in regular contact, understand each advisor's book, and grow their Swain bookings year over year.
  • Represent Swain at trade shows, consortia events, and advisor functions, including Virtuoso Travel Week.
  • Deliver training, destination briefings, and product updates that make advisors confident selling Swain.
  • Be the advisor's internal advocate, connecting them to the right consultant and resolving friction quickly.
  • Track pipeline, activity, and production against targets, and report on what is working.
  • Feed market intelligence back to the team: what advisors are asking for, where competitors are winning, and where we have room.
  • Partner with marketing on advisor-facing campaigns, co-op opportunities, and event follow-up.

AI-forward expectations

Swain is building AI into how we operate, and we want this role comfortable using it.

  • Use AI productivity tools to work efficiently and keep your day-to-day moving.
  • Familiarity with Claude is a strong plus; general comfort with AI productivity tools is expected.
  • We would rather you spend your time in front of advisors than at your desk, and we expect you to use good tools to make that trade.

Skills & qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years in travel trade sales, business development, account management, or advisor-facing relationship roles. Experience with a tour operator, DMC, luxury hotel group, or consortium is a strong plus.
  • Knowledge of the luxury travel advisor channel and how consortia work.
  • Proven ability to build relationships and grow revenue from a portfolio of accounts.
  • Comfortable traveling and presenting to groups.
  • Excellent communication, follow-through, and organization.
  • A self-starter who measures themselves on production, not activity.
  • Genuine interest in our destinations and the high-touch, personalized travel we sell.

Why Swain Destinations

Swain Destinations is a luxury personalized tour operator specializing in Australia, New Zealand, the South Pacific, and Africa. We hold status with Virtuoso, Signature, American Express, and Ensemble. Our edge is specialization depth and relationship quality, which makes the advisor relationship the heart of the business and this role central to it.

Director of Marketing

Department
Sales & Marketing
Location
Greater Philadelphia Area preferred; remote considered.
Lead hands-on CRM, lifecycle, email, social, web, co-op, and brand marketing across advisor and traveler audiences.role details

About the role

Swain Destinations is hiring a Director of Marketing to lead our marketing across both audiences we serve: the travel advisors who sell us and the luxury travelers they send our way. You will own CRM and lifecycle marketing across email, social, web, and mobile, manage our tourism board relationships and co-op marketing plans, and keep everything on-brand for a luxury, specialist tour operator.

This is a hands-on role with broad ownership. You will carry marketing from strategy through to finished, shipped campaigns, and it suits someone who likes wearing many hats and taking a function from idea to delivery.

What you'll do

  • Develop and execute end-to-end CRM and lifecycle strategies that convert new agents and direct clients to a first booking, then engage and retain them over time.
  • Build and send our email marketing programs, from strategy through copy, build, send, and reporting.
  • Use marketing automation for transactional, promotional, and informational campaigns that drive retention and acquisition.
  • Manage tourism board relationships and co-op marketing plans, including planning, execution, and reporting against co-op funds.
  • Run social and web marketing as part of the mix.
  • Establish, report on, and improve KPIs for every campaign and communication.
  • Be the voice of the customer and our internal expert on CRM best practice.
  • Use customer segmentation and behavior to target and personalize lifecycle programs.
  • Keep everything on-brand for a luxury, specialist tour operator.

AI-forward expectations

Swain is building AI into how we work, and we want a marketer who is comfortable using these tools to work efficiently and raise the quality of what we put out.

  • Use AI tools well across drafting, ideation, and analysis.
  • Familiarity with Claude is a strong plus; general comfort with AI productivity tools is expected.
  • Bring a point of view on where AI helps and where the brand and the human still have to win.

Skills & qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • 5 years' experience in customer marketing, customer communications, or customer engagement.
  • Hands-on email and CRM execution: you build and ship campaigns, not just brief them out.
  • A track record of measurable business results from testing and deploying multi-channel campaigns.
  • Excellent project management and communication skills, balancing rigorous attention to detail with fast execution.
  • A self-starter who pursues impact without being told to and is comfortable owning the whole job.
  • Skilled at planning, organizing, prioritizing, and running multiple projects at once.
  • Experience with A/B testing, messaging, and post-campaign analysis.

Why Swain Destinations

Swain Destinations is a luxury personalized tour operator specializing in Australia, New Zealand, the South Pacific, and Africa. We hold status with Virtuoso, Signature, American Express, and Ensemble. This is a role with broad ownership and real impact, where you run the marketing function end to end.
