The stay

What to know about this stay.

Game drives and walks at Elewana Tortilis Camp Amboseli run both inside Amboseli National Park and across the private 30,000-acre Kitirua Conservancy, where sightings of Amboseli's famously large elephant herds, part of a population exceeding 1,000, are a near-certainty against a Kilimanjaro backdrop. Named for the flat-topped Acacia tortilis trees that shade the camp, it was one of the first eco-lodges of its size and now runs entirely on solar power.

A separate Private House and Family Tent share their own pool, set apart from the main camp for groups wanting more privacy. Guides here know many of Amboseli's elephants individually, their family history included, thanks to decades of research by Cynthia Moss that the camp draws on directly.
