Sanctuary Stanley’s Camp

A classic tented camp set among ebony and sausage trees, Sanctuary Stanley’s Camp is located on a 260,000 acre private concession bordering the Moremi Game Reserve. The natural wonders of the area constantly change over the seasons from lush green when the rain flows down the Angolan highlands, to dry savannah when the neighboring Kalahari Desert tightens its grip on the terrain. This traditional safari camp has a large lounge area and dining area with incredible views over the floodplains in front of camp. The main area features a bar from where refreshing drinks are always served with a smile, a small library area and curio shop. From the swimming pool - a real treat after a hot day of game viewing - guests can watch giraffe and other plains game march across the savannah and sometimes catch a glimpse of rare wild dogs. Everything about Sanctuary Stanley's Camp is built to the highest ecological standards to ensure there is minimal impact on the highly sensitive area. Sanctuary Stanley's Camp's meals are all freshly prepared with a focus on personalized service catering to culinary preferences and needs.

Room Information

The intimate camp features only ten safari canvas tents, each individually designed, furnished with African antiques that exude a classic and understated elegance that harks back to the explorers and colonialists of the 19th century. Each tent has a large wooden deck providing private areas where you can relax while soaking in the surrounding sights and sounds or enjoy cocktails, before dinner is served in the spectacular dining mess.

Things To Do

The game viewing around camp is thrilling. Water crossings are part of the adventure and watching zebra standing belly-deep grazing is a sight to see! Because Sanctuary Stanley’s Camp is set in a private concession, there is the opportunity to venture out after dark on night game drives to see the nocturnal animals. Key wildlife include: lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, cheetah, giraffe, impala, zebra, wild dog, hyena, and hippo.

The following activities are included in your stay:

Game Drives
Enjoy game drives, spotting wildlife from open-sided 4X4 vehicles, accompanied by professional guides. Because the camp is located on a private concession, guests have the opportunity to see animals up close on both morning and evening game drives to discover incredible nocturnal species.

Mokoro Excursions
The Okavango Delta is flooded for much of the year and when it is, guests can experience the gentle pace of a poled mokoro excursion along the narrow Delta channels. Sit back and relax as you glide through lily ponds on local dugout canoes while watching the surrounding wildlife. (Subject to water levels). Generally mokoros are available January to October but can’t be guaranteed.

Walking Safaris
Discover the signs of the bush, accompanied by your guide and armed ranger on exciting walking safaris. The wildlife is spectacular all year round and because the camp is set in a private concession guests can get very close in perfect safety with one of the guides.

Additional Activities:

Scenic Helicopter Flights
Experience the magnificent Okavango Delta by air with Helicopter Horizons Scenic Flights - a completely personalized experience offering the very best of the untamed wilderness and wildlife in widescreen. These scenic flights involve flying west towards the permanent delta, exposing areas which are unreachable by vehicle or boat and showcasing the sheer enormity of the Okavango Delta. Helicopters are a perfect way to explore deep into the Delta exposing permanent waterways, palm islands, and lagoons, with sweeping views of floodplains and incredible game sightings. Doors are removed for unrestricted views which offers great photographic opportunities. The best time to experience these scenic flights is early morning and late afternoon as these times usually provide the best light for photography. This activity is at an additional cost and can be booked while in camp.
