Set within the burgeoning Mount Cook and Mackenzie District, it is the perfect base from which to explore the natural wonders of the region. Lake Tekapo offers numerous activities including kayaking and rainbow and brown trout fishing or the nearby ski fields offer all the snow activities you crave. Day tips to the hot springs, a hit of golf and star gazing at Mount John are highly recommended.

Room Information

Inspired by the landscape, the architectural design of the resort reflects the natural colors and textures of the Mackenzie Basin which incorporates the glacial blue water and the smooth stones on the shores of the lake, schist and agate of the mountains and the russet red and beige tussocks.

Our beautifully appointed Studio Rooms reflect the earth tones of the breathtaking Mackenzie Basin and features a king bed or twin configuration. This room includes under floor bathroom heating and can accommodation a maximum of two adults. Also offering Lake Views in the Studio Lake View Rooms

One Bedroom Mountain View
The split level One Bedroom Mountain View villa is self-contained and includes kitchen, dining and living area with a king bed and bathroom (shower only). The couch in the lounge can make up an extra bed.

Rakinui Restaurant: The Rakinui Restaurant is open daily for breakfasts and dinner and offers a wide selection of international cuisine and hearty local fare in elegant surroundings, with spectacular views across Lake Tekapo. The restaurant offers a relaxed and casual dining setting with outdoor dining options in warmer weather.

Under the direction of Head Chef Rob Hunt, the menu features modern New Zealand cuisine with a contemporary twist and changes regularly to ensure the local seasonal produce is offered on their menu. Ensure you try the signature dish, Aoraki Mt Cook Salmon showcasing a mouthwatering poached fillet of salmon, cucumber tagliatelle with champagne and watercress sauce. Complementing the menu is a wine list featuring a wide range of award winning New Zealand wines.

The Rakinui Lounge is open for drinks and snacks daily where guests can unwind amongst comfy sofas or enjoy fireside pre-dinner drinks.
