MACq 01 Hotel holds 114 rooms on Hobart's waterfront, Australia's first storytelling hotel, each room built around the life of a genuine Tasmanian historical figure, from Indigenous leaders to convict escapees. Complimentary walking tours led by the hotel's resident storytellers cover Hobart's waterfront and city history, a genuinely different way to get oriented in a new city than a standard self-guided map.

The Story Bar's Gin Tales experience, created with Tasmania's McHenry Distillery, pairs five gins each inspired by a notable Tasmanian, worth doing even if gin isn't usually your drink of choice. Being Australia's first storytelling hotel means the narrative concept here shapes the actual room design, not just a marketing label.
