Day By Day

Day 1 – Arrive in Nairobi, Kenya

On arrival you will be met and transferred to your hotel. Kenya's capital is cosmopolitan, lively, interesting and pleasantly landscaped.

Starting Accommodation: The Sarova Stanley Hotel

Day 2 – Nairobi to Amboseli National Park

Transfer to the airport for your onward flight. On arrival you will be met and transferred to your accommodation.  Amboseli, immediately northwest of Mount Kilimanjaro and 150 miles southeast of Nairobi on the Tanzanian border, is certainly one of the most picturesque places in the whole of Africa to watch game. Where else could you watch a great herd of elephants trudging slowly across a wide empty plain dominated by Africa's highest mountain, Kilimanjaro? Arriving at the lodge for lunch, you have some time to enjoy the lodge facilities. Late afternoon enjoy a shared game drive before returning to the lodge for dinner.

Starting Accommodation: Ol Tukai
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 3 – Amboseli National Park

Enjoy a full day in Amboseli National Park, which lies below the most famous symbol of Africa – Mount Kilimanjaro – 19,340 feet – the highest mountain in Africa and the tallest free standing mountain in the world.

Amboseli is a fairly small national park yet so rich in both flora and fauna that it has recently been designated an International Bio-sphere Reserve. Amboseli, meaning “Salty Dust” in the Maasai language is an important rangeland for the Maasai culture whilst the ‘salty dust’ itself is volcanic ash from the eruptions of Mount Kilimanjaro a millennium ago. Amboseli features grasslands, rolling hills and swamplands whilst the presence of Mount Kilimanjaro creates a unique selection of ecosystems found nowhere else on earth.

Starting Accommodation: Ol Tukai
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 4 – Amboseli to Shaba (Via Nairobi)

Transfer to the airport for your flight to Shaba through Nairobi. On arrival you will be met and transferred to your accommodation.

The Shaba National Park will take your breath away with its imposing landscape: the dry bushlands, surrounded by many small free-standing hills, framed by mountain ranges and traversed by the Ewasa Ngiro River awaits you in central Kenya. This afternoon enjoy a shared game drive before returning to the lodge for dinner.

Starting Accommodation: Sarova Shaba Game Lodge
Meals: Breakfast, Dinner

Day 5 – Game Viewing in Shaba National Reserve

Enjoy a full day in the reserve with morning and afternoon shared game viewing.  The Shaba National Reserve is one of the less visited areas in Kenya and is located off the main tourism paths. It is one of the most northerly parks in the country and here you will experience the fascinating landscapes north of Mount Kenya in absolute seclusion. The Shaba National Reserve is more known for its landscape than its wildlife. In addition to the exciting landscape, you will have the chance to see the animals of the arid zone, such as Somali giraffes, oryx antelopes, Somali ostriches, Grevy’s zebras and gerenuks. Along the Ewasa Ngiro River, you will find elephants, crocodiles, hippos and buffaloes, closely followed by lions, leopards and cheetahs. Bird lovers will also delight in the over 450 species of birds found in the area.

Starting Accommodation: Sarova Shaba Game Lodge
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 6 – Shaba to Masai Mara

Transfer to the airport for your onward flight. On arrival you will be met and transferred to your accommodation. Everything about this reserve is outstanding. The wildlife is abundant and the gentle rolling grasslands ensure that animals are never out of sight. Birds, too, are prolific. Maasai communities live within the dispersal area with their stock but a century of close association with the wildlife has resulted in an almost symbiotic relationship where wildlife and people live in peace with one another. The first sight of this natural wonderland is breathtaking. Here the great herds of shuffling elephants browse among the rich tree-studded grasslands with an occasional sighting of a solitary and ill-tempered rhino.  This afternoon enjoy a shared game drive before returning to the lodge for dinner.

Starting Accommodation: Sarova Mara Game Camp
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 7 – Game Viewing in Maasai Mara

When it comes to game viewing, there is nowhere in Africa richer in wildlife or more eventful in encounters than the Mara. A pristine wilderness of haunting beauty, it promises its visitors a profusion of wildlife, prolific bird life and the unprecedented opportunity of catching up with all the members of the ‘Big Five’ in one morning. The scenery is a classic mix of African imagery; miles of lion gold grasslands, shoals of lilac-misted hills, a meandering river, acres of thorn bush and mile upon mile of undulating wilderness.

Enjoy a full day in the Mara with two game drives included. Wonderful scenery and an abundance of big game abound in this reserve.

Starting Accommodation: Sarova Mara Game Camp
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 8 – Game Viewing in Maasai Mara

Enjoy another full day in the Mara with two shared game drives included.

Starting Accommodation: Sarova Mara Game Camp
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 9 – Depart Maasai Mara

Transfer to the airport for your onward flight. Upon arrival into Nairobi connect with your departure flight.
