A ten-night exploration of South Africa. The first two nights are spent in Johannesburg, the "City of Gold" taking in the city highlights. Next, move to South Africa's safari areas where you will spend 5 nights combining the Timbavati and Sabi Sand Game Reserves to see the Big Five - lions, leopards, rhinos, buffalo and elephants. End off with three nights in Cape Town, the "mother city". Here explore Robben Island, Cape Town city and the iconic Table Mountain and seeing the travel to the tip of Africa.

Day By Day

Day 1 – Arrive Johannesburg
Welcome to Johannesburg, South Africa! On arrival into Johannesburg O.R. Tambo Airport, you will be met once you make your way through the air bridge. The representative will assist you through immigration and with your luggage and once through customs you will be assisted to your transfer. Transfer by private vehicle to your Johannesburg accommodation for check in.

Day 2 – Johannesburg City Tour
Johannesburg is a booming, happening city and the area close to City Hall and Newtown Cultural Precinct, which has completely transformed the Market Theatre and surrounds, now forms the heart of urban revival. Depart your hotel and proceed to Johannesburg and as you enter the central business district you will see how art is being used to revitalize and uplift the inner city of Johannesburg. Look out for the stunning public art commissioned from both famous artists and lesser-known ones, from the 560 carved wooden heads dotted all around the Newtown Precinct, to the Banner of Hope steel sculpture of the South African flag in front of the Sci-Bono Discovery Centre. You will also drive past buildings of significance such as the Magistrate’s Court, City Hall and Supreme Court as the tour meanders through the streets of Egoli. The tour ends with an insightful visit to Constitution Hill which is a living museum that tells the story of South Africa’s journey to democracy. The site is a former prison and military fort that bears testament to South Africa’s turbulent past and, today, is home to the country’s Constitutional Court, which endorses the rights of all citizens. The tour ends with drop-off at your hotel in the early afternoon.  The remainder of the afternoon is at your leisure.

Day 3 – Johannesburg to Timbavati Game Reserve
Transfer from your hotel to Johannesburg O.R. Tambo Airport to connect with your flight to Hoedspruit. Upon arrival into Hoedspruit you will be met and transferred to &Ngala Safari Lodge for check in.  This afternoon enjoy your first afternoon game drive.

Day 4 – Game Viewing in Timbavati Game Reserve
Spend the day today enjoying the activities offered at &Beyond Ngala Safari Lodge. Located on the boundary of the world renowned Kruger National Park, Ngala Private Game Reserve is well known for its high densities of elephant, buffalo and rhino, as well as for its African wild dogs. A spectacular diversity of wildlife moves through this immense wilderness, including elephant, spotted hyena, giraffe, buffalo and white rhino. Ngala means; lion; in Shangaan and the Reserve lives up to its name, supporting several prides of these powerful cats.

Day 5 – Timbavati Game Reserve to Sabi Sand Game Reserve
After your morning game drive, depart the Timbavati and travel approximately 3 hours south to the Sabi Sand Game Reserve to check in at &Beyond Kirkman's Kamp. This afternoon enjoy another game drive.

Day 6 – Game Viewing in Sabi Sand Game Reserve
Kirkman's Kamp is located Big Five game reserve that shares unfenced borders with the Kruger National Park.  The knowledgeable rangers and trackers have an intimate understanding of the bush and its inhabitants and do their utmost to share this knowledge with guests in a variety of adventures. Twice daily game drives - early morning and late afternoon / evening game drives in an open 4x4 safari vehicle traverse an area of 6 300 hectares - 15 500 acres. Track the Big Five, as well as a rich variety of other game, in the company of a ranger and tracker. Interpretive bush walks are offered in between game drives.

Day 7 – Game Viewing in Sabi Sand Game Reserve
Enjoy morning and afternoon game drives in the Sabi Sand Game Reserve.

Day 8 – Sabi Sand Game Reserve to Cape Town
This morning enjoy your last morning game drive before transferring to Hoedspruit Airport for your onward flight. Fly to Johannesburg (for your own account). Upon arrival you will be transferred to your hotel. South Africa’s “Mother City” is indescribably beautiful, steeped in fascinating history and pulsating to a heady African rhythm. Indeed, few urban centers anywhere can match its setting along the mountainous Cape Peninsula spine, which slides into the Atlantic Ocean. Exotic combinations of landscapes, people, history and culture offer visitors a unique and inspiring experience.

Day 9 – Robben Island, Cape Town City and Table Mountain
Including all the must-sees of any Cape Town day tour, this option is a geographical and cultural extravaganza, showing you Cape Town from its historical beginnings to its dark days of apartheid and present day spirit of triumph and hope in a democratic South Africa.  The tour commences with a ferry trip across the bay to Robben Island (weather permitting), once a place of banishment, isolation and imprisonment but today it is a World Heritage Site and museum, a poignant reminder of the price paid for freedom. Continue to the Bo-Kaap to discover how the Malay slaves influenced the culture, food and aesthetics of this beautiful city and its people. In the heart of the city, enjoy a short walk through the Company Gardens. Step inside the Slave Lodge which explores the history of these unwilling immigrants and how they have contributed to the richness and diversity of South African history. Continue to Table Mountain where you reach the top by cable car (weather permitting). Enjoy the panoramic views over the city with Robben Island lying sleepily in Table Bay. Also, get a bird’s eye view over the Atlantic Seaboard. Return to your hotel in the early evening.

Day 10 – Cape of Good Hope
Enjoy the breathtaking views along one of the world’s most scenic areas which stretches from the City center to Cape Point. Also, stop at a picturesque coastal village which is home to a colony of penguins. The afternoon is yours to explore more of city at your leisure.

Day 11 – Depart Cape Town for USA
You will be transferred to Cape Town Airport to connect with your onward flight returning to the USA. (B)
