Why travel here

The Best of Victoria

Victoria is a state located on the most Southeastern part of Australia and offers travelers mind-blowing continuous coastline, sleepy countryside dotted with vineyards where kangaroos bound through the rows of grape vines, and one of the coolest cities in Australia, Melbourne.

Each region of Victoria is unique, from bustling city life to the iconic sea stacks of the Great Ocean Road, to the food and wine mecca that is the Mornington Peninsula. Keep reading to learn more about the diverse regions of Victoria.

Melbourne - Melbourne is known as one of the coolest cities in Oz. Its eclectic, interconnected laneways lend it a vibe you can’t get just anywhere. What better place to start your adventure and get your feet planted firmly back on the ground after a long flight than this notoriously chilled out city with a coffee scene that’s renowned worldwide?

Along the banks of the Yarra River, tour the Royal Botanical Gardens with an Aboriginal guide who will explain long-practiced customs and how the flora connects to the land. After seeing the tranquil side to this fabulous city, explore the many laneways and arcades to experience the street art, architecture, and quirky retailers that give Melbourne its unique charm.

Phillip Island - Pristine white beaches and hi-octane motor sports, endless family fun and iconic wildlife, you'll find it all on a seaside holiday at Phillip Island, just 90 minutes from Melbourne. See little penguins and sleepy koalas in their natural habitat, teach the kids to swim on a quiet bay beach, and soak up all the action at the Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix.

Mornington Peninsula - Just an hour from Melbourne, this is Victoria's home of gastronomy and fine wines, perched alongside the sea. Breathe in the fresh sea air, sample innovative local cuisine, and soak up the relaxed alfresco lifestyle of the Mornington Peninsula. Explore the galleries, spas and cafes in breezy seaside villages, cool off with a day on the beach, or taste your way through gourmet delights at boutique wineries.

Yarra Valley - Small villages with vibrant art scenes, local wineries and distilleries, and magnificent gardens and forests can all be experienced in the Yarra Valley. Get out of the bustling city of Melbourne for a morning adrift a sea of clouds as you float over sleepy, picturesque countryside dotted with vineyards and peaceful birdsong.

Great Ocean Road - One of the world's most scenic coastal drives, the Great Ocean Road is full of knock-your-socks-off, take-your-breath-away views, iconic surf breaks, waterfalls and of course, the 12 Apostles.

Formed over the course of millions of years, the limestone sea stacks off the coast of Port Campbell National Park known as the Twelve Apostles are a sight not to miss when visiting Victoria. The drive from Melbourne is an event unto itself as you take in the mind-blowing continuous coastline of the Great Ocean Road.

The seven stacks (originally eight but never actually twelve) naturally eroded by the waves crashing against the cliffs over many years, forming caves which eventually collapsed, leaving only the limestone formations seen today.

The Grampians - Head out on walking tracks that lead to dazzling waterfalls, wildlife and awe-inspiring lookouts. Savour celebrated local wine at cellar doors and a sublime meal at a multi-award-winning restaurant. Take in extraordinary art, old and new, in galleries indoors and out. Wherever you go, be enchanted and inspired by the striking landscapes of the Grampians spread out before you.
