The stay
What to know about this stay.
qualia sits on the northern tip of Hamilton Island, its 61 pavilions and two exclusive-use residences facing the Coral Sea and the rest of the Whitsundays. Opened in 2007 and designed by Australian architect Chris Beckingham, it remains one of the country's most awarded resorts. As a member of Luxury Lodges of Australia, one of only 20 lodges nationwide to hold that distinction, the property meets the collective's exacting standards for remoteness, scale and genuine sense of place.
Long Pavilion, set high among the eucalypts, and Pebble Beach, right on the sand, cover qualia's two restaurants, both built around Queensland produce from executive chef Joshua Hingston. Windward Pavilions come with a private plunge pool, while Leeward Pavilions lean into the bushland setting, and the Beach House adds its own 12-meter infinity pool for larger groups.
