Connect with Country during this immersive sunrise experience. Sunrise Journeys shines a light on three prolific female Anangu artists—Selina Kulitja (Maruku Arts), Denise Brady (Kaltukatjara Art), and Valerie Brumby (Walkatjara Art)—who have come together to create a bespoke artwork that depicts their deep connection to culture and Country. Before the glowing silhouettes of Ulu
ru and Kata Tju
ta are revealed, the artwork is brought to life, utilizing the vast desert landscape as a natural canvas.
As the red earth warms under the rising sun, guests will take their seats on the sustainably constructed floating platform overlooking Ulu
ru and Kata Tju
ta, and watch the artwork as it is recreated on the vast, dark desert landscape below using cutting edge laser and light projection technology. Indigenous iconography—similar to those commonly seen in dot paintings—begin to gently ebb and flow across the land.
Titled
Ngura Nganampa Wiru Mulapa, which translates from Pitjantjatjara to English as "our Country is truly beautiful," the painting depicts a modern telling of the artists’ shared connection to these lands. Denise Brady says of the Sunrise Journeys collaboration: "Our hearts burn with passion to share our Country and knowledge with the world. We have created Sunrise Journeys to invite people into our culture and share our way of life."
Following the display, guests will enjoy a hearty breakfast of native flavors paired with an Australian chai tea. The tour departs approximately one hour prior to sunrise, so will vary each season.
