Swain Destinations, which has planned custom luxury travel to Australia, New Zealand, the South Pacific, Africa, and the Middle East since 1987, has joined Tourism Cares, the nonprofit that brings the travel industry together around the belief that travel and tourism can contribute to the well-being of communities, economies, and the planet.
The membership builds on how Swain already works. The company chooses its lodges, suppliers, and partners against strict criteria, including how they treat the land and wildlife around them, and continually evaluates its operating practices against animal welfare and wildlife-conservation standards. Over recent years Swain has been evolving its wildlife policies, identifying the experiences that support wildlife and the places travelers visit, and focusing on bringing more of them into its program.
As a member, Swain joins destinations, accommodations, tour operators, and travel advisors with access to Tourism Cares education, practical resources, industry events, the Meaningful Travel Map, and Meaningful Travel Summits. Swain will use these resources when reviewing destinations, experiences, and partner practices.
Swain plans travel to wildlife reserves, marine parks, and remote communities across five regions. Tourism Cares membership adds another source of guidance as the team reviews how each journey affects the people and places involved.
