Day 1 – USA to Auckland
Today you will begin your Swain Destinations customized itinerary. Please note, international air has not been included in this package price.
Day 2 – Cross the International Date Line
Cross the International Date Line, an imaginary line on the surface of the Earth that runs from the North to the South Pole - and defines one calendar day from the next. Crossing the International Date Line adds one day (24 hours) traveling west, and subtracts one day (24 hours) traveling east.
Day 3 – Welcome to Auckland, New Zealand
You will be met by your driver outside the customs and immigration area. You will be transferred to your Auckland city accommodation.
Auckland, ‘City of Sails’, located between two stunning harbors, enjoys a mild year-round climate. Auckland is the country's most visited region and largest urban area, offering exciting activities and great shopping.
The city lies across a 7-mile wide volcanic isthmus separating two harbors. The Waitemata to the east opens into the Hauraki Gulf, and to the Pacific Ocean. The Manukau Harbour to the west offers many estuaries and surf beaches and opens to the Tasman Sea.Starting Accommodation:
Day 4 – Auckland to Waitomo and Taupo
Your driver will pick you up from your hotel and take you south via the rich Waikato farmlands and the city of Hamilton en route to Waitomo. Here you travel silently by boat along the underground river, surrounded by sparkling glowworms and intricate limestone formations. The caves tour and lunch at Waitomo is included today. This afternoon you continue the journey toward Taupo, dropping off at your accommodation – Huka Lodge.Starting Accommodation:

Day 5 – Guided Fly Fishing Around Taupo
Whether you are an experienced fly fisherman or a complete novice you will find fly fishing both a delight and a challenge. The world-renowned Tongariro River is classed as one of the best fly fishing rivers in the world and is also New Zealand’s most popular fishing. Only a 25-minute drive from Huka Lodge, the Tongariro River is a considerable attraction to keen fishermen the world over.
Anglers come to the Tongariro to fish for spawning trout which run up the river from the lake over the colder winter months, both Rainbow and Brown trout frequent these waters and disappointments are rare.
Your fishing guide will pick you up in a four-wheel drive vehicle from the Lodge and return you again. They will provide top quality rods, reels, waders and flys. Charges begin from when your guide arrives and end upon your return to Huka Lodge. All prices are based on a maximum of two anglers per guide.Starting Accommodation:

Day 6 – Rotorua to Nelson
Transfer to Rotorua airport by private vehicle for your onward flight to Nelson. On arrival into Nelson Airport you will be met and transferred by private vehicle to Stonefly Lodge.
Stonefly Lodge is situated on 150 acres of private forest within an hours drive from New Zealand's South Island city of Nelson, close to many fly fishing rivers in Nelson Lakes National Park, Motueka and Murchison. Day 7 – Fly Fishing Experience
The bountiful coastline along Palliser Bay offers a variety of interesting and edible fish. Discover the best spots to fish with professional instruction. Day 8 – At leisure, Stonefly Lodge
Today is at your leisure to enjoy Stonefly Lodge and surrounding Nelson. Relax and enjoy the beautiful area that embodies the lodge, or enjoy some of the lodge's activities.Starting Accommodation:
Day 9 – Nelson to Queenstown
You will be collected from your accommodation for a private transfer to Nelson Airport for your flight to Queenstown. Upon arrival you will be met at Queenstown airport and transferred to your lodge accommodation at Blanket Bay.

Day 11 – At leisure, Queenstown
Blanket Bay originally sprung from its owner's love of fly-fishing. Though a year-round resort, everything at Blanket Bay is designed to provide a world-class experience for the most demanding and experienced anglers.
Large rivers, slow moving pools, fast runs and riffles, bush clad streams, open river floats, or small mountain lakes provide exciting options for your fishing pleasure.
Anglers from all over the world have looked to New Zealand as the mecca of angling - the world's best wild trout fishery. There is exceptional stream fishing for Browns and Rainbows. Fishing in New Zealand is measured by quality not quantity. A good day's fishing might be only 3 or 4 fish, but they could average over 5 pounds!

Day 12 – Queenstown to Christchurch
You will be transferred to the airport by private vehicle for your flight to Christchurch. Upon arrival your driver will meet you and transfer you by private vehicle to your accommodation, Otahuna Lodge.
From the silvery beaches of the East Coast to the jagged peaks of the Southern Alps, the Canterbury landscape is impossible to ignore. Big scenery is the order of the day - huge panoramas of ocean or mountains, great sweeps of pastureland, massive amounts of sky. It’s easy to be awestruck - but if you want to be totally flabbergasted, take a hot air balloon ride. The experience of floating across the Canterbury Plains with the majesty of the Southern Alps behind you will ingrain itself on your memory forever.Starting Accommodation:
Day 13 – At leisure, Otahuna Lodge
Today is at your leisure to rest and relax at Otahuna Lodge or partake in one of the lodge's activities, at your own expense.
Canterbury’s rivers provide excellent chances for both the novice and expert fly-fisherman to test their skills. Guests benefit from the knowledge of a local guide who will choose a location to ensure the best chances of making a successful catch. Brown and rainbow trout can be caught in both the high country as well as lowland streams from October through April.
