Day By Day

Day 1 – Arrival in Mexico City
A representative will greet you in the arrivals hall of Mexico City International Airport. They will accompany you to the awaiting car and introduce you to the driver. Transfer to your city hotel by private vehicle.

Day 2 – Mexico City, Historic Center & Chocolate Museum Full Day
Today you will visit the Mucho Mundo Chocolate Museum for an exploration of chocolate’s rich history. Your two hour chocolate experience begins with a guided visit through the small museum, you will find out why cacao plays such an important part of Mexico’s past and present. Mexico’s native cultures would also use cacao beans as religious offerings and even as a form of currency. Next, you will learn to make chocolate from scratch. Starting with cacao and a metate, you will grind away adding sugar and cinnamon to your liking. Finally, a short tasting will complete the experience with a tour for your tastebuds through the different levels of chocolate. Your adventure into Mexico’s rich past continues with an exploration of Mexico City’s historic center. Visit the architecturally stunning Metropolitan Cathedral, which was built on top of an Aztec temple by Spanish conquistadors. Admire great works of art by famed Mexican muralist Diego Rivera and tour some of the capital’s iconic streets. Finally, you will explore the Palace of Fine Arts, one of Mexico City’s grandest and most important artistic centers before being returned to your hotel.

Day 3 – Papalote Museum, Mercado Roma & Churro Experience
This morning drive to El Papalote Children’s Museum, located in Chapultepec Park. It is an interactive museum whose task is to promote meaningful learning through experiences that bring children closer to understanding the world around them through tools that allow them to experiment, participate, know, explain, feel and question their environment. The museum is divided into six major thematic areas: The journey begins, My Body, Mexico live, My home and my family, Laboratory of Ideas and My City. The Temporary Exhibition Hall, the Mega Screen and the Digital Dome are also part of the educational offer at the Museum. After a morning filled with fun and learning, you will head to Mercado Roma located in the coolest neighborhood of Mexico City, Roma Norte. Mercado Roma is a public market that opened in 2014. The market stalls offer organic and gourmet food where you can choose from options like pozole, tacos, tapas and other Mexican delicacies. Enjoy a lunch lunch at mercado Roma. After your meal, sample churros at the world-famous Churreria el Moro, located in the wonderful Condesa Neighborhood, next to Parque Mexico. After dessert you will be driven back to your hotel.

Day 4 – Hot Air Ballooning & Teotihuacan Pyramids Full Day
Depart your hotel at 6:00am, this rare experience is well worth the early morning required. See the sunrise over the Valley of Teotihuacán as you pass over the pyramids of the Sun and the Moon in your own private hot-air balloon. You will be in the air for roughly forty minutes, taking in the sheer size of the religious and ceremonial center of the Aztecs and looking out over vistas of the surrounding valley. Once the gentle flight is over you will toast with sparkling wine for the adults and soft drinks for the kids, before heading to a breakfast buffet at a nearby restaurant. Please note since hot-air balloons have no steering mechanism, exact routes are dictated by wind patterns, so the proximity to the pyramids will depend on the wind conditions. Afterwards, your expert guide will lead you on an exploration of the archaeological zone while learning about the rituals, cosmology, beliefs and everyday lives of the Aztecs and the inhabitants of Teotihuacán before them.

Day 5 – San Miguel de Allende Half Day Walking Tour and Family Cooking Class
Discover the colorful historic center of San Miguel de Allende, walking its cobblestone streets. Let your guide lead you in exploring this city voted the best city to live in by Conde Nast in 2013.

Explore the exhilarating world of traditional Mexican food with a hands-on cooking class. You will get to know the textures, flavors, and versatility of masa — the ubiquitous dough used to create tortillas. You will have fun trying to make the perfect tortilla shape and experiment by adding a range of traditional and non-traditional ingredients. You will then produce a culinary masterpiece by introducing traditional cheeses and home-made salsas to your creations. Finally, you will fry some tortillas to create totopos, a chip-like dipping food, to scoop up delicious guacamole.

Day 6 – San Miguel Family Painting Workshop
This morning, meet with the highly-respected painter, Gerardo Ruiz — a San Miguel resident — in the comforts of a private home. From him, you will learn all about monotyping, a style of printing in which an image is drawn or painted onto a smooth surface and then transferred onto another canvas such as a piece of paper. While this technique may sound like a modern invention, many credit Italian artist Giovanni Benedetto Castiglione as being one of the first to use monotype in the middle of the 1600s. Using the techniques developed over the centuries, you will have the opportunity to explore your creative side and produce an incredible piece of art.

Day 7 – Travel to Los Cabos
Ahead of your flight you will be transferred by an English speaking driver from your San Miguel hotel to Bajio Airport in Leon to connect with your departing flight.

Takeoff to Los Cabos and continue on the next stage of your adventure.

Arrive into Los Cabos International airport where you will be met as you exit customs by a local representative holding a sign board. You will be assisted to the vehicle for your private scenic transfer to your accommodation. Transfer time is approximately 40 minutes.

Day 8 – Cabo for Kids - Family Beach Day
This mornings tour highlights include a visit to Chileno Bay and Santa Maria Bay, time to snorkel the Reef (adults and kids), beach toys and boogie board for kids, stand up paddle boards and a beach camp for adults to relax. Round trip transportation is provided, along with beverages and healthy snacks, plus a catered lunch.

Please bring comfortable clothing, sandals, sun block, sunglasses, rash guard, hat and swimsuit with towel.

Day 9 – Desert Oasis Waterfall or Hot Spring
Strap on your walking boots and journey the road less traveled to experience old Baja. The adventure begins by joining a certified bilingual guide and heading into the Sierra la Laguna, a natural reserve in the desert. Arrive at a local ranch and take the chance to swim in its natural hot springs. Along the way, also visit small waterfalls – in which swimming is also possible – and discover the endemic species of Baja Sur. For lunch, head to Rancho El Refugio in San Dionisio Canyon. Here, Doña Luz serves up the best handmade tortillas, and local celebrity Rogelio explains all about the region’s fascinating flora and fauna. Please bring comfortable clothing, sneakers or tennis shoes, sunblock, sunglasses, a hat, a swimsuit and a towel. Todays tour includes private transportation, certified naturalist bilingual guide, lunch at a local ranch, beverages and healthy snacks, park entrance fees, and donation to the local ranch.

Day 10 – Turtles Release Evening Experience
This evening, witness the momentous journey of newborn sea turtles as they make their way to the salty waters for the very first time. With an expert naturalist as your guide, learn all about the life cycles of these magnificent creatures as you set these baby turtles free and watch them clumsily flap their way towards the ocean. Not only is this an awe-inspiring and emotional tour, but also an important one as it forms part of vital wildlife conservation programs aimed at preserving these glorious animals for future generations.

Turtle release season runs from August to December.

Day 11 – Depart San José del Cabo
Ahead of your flight, you will be transferred from your accommodation to Los Cabos International Airport to connect with your departing flight. Transfer time is approximately 40 minutes. (B)
