Your Hurtigruten expedition includes an overnight stay in Buenos Aires prior to embarkation, return flights in economy class between Buenos Aires and Ushuaia, Buenos Aires and Ushuaia airport transfers, the expedition cruise with meals and house beverages in the restaurants, complimentary tea and coffee, Wifi (with limitations due to remote areas visited, and no streaming), complimentary reusable water bottle and a range of included excursions and onboard activities.

Day By Day
Day 1 – Arrive in Buenos Aires
This adventure starts with an overnight stay in Buenos Aires, the bustling capital of Argentina. Spend the evening at your leisure and discover the `Paris of South America´ for yourself on a warm spring or summer day.
Day 2 – Buenos Aires to Ushuaia
Start with an early morning flight to the so-called ‘End of the World’: the port city of Ushuaia where MS Fram awaits and your voyage truly begins. Your base camp at sea is ready for you! On board, you’ll meet the Expedition Team and the crew members, who will take you through a mandatory health and safety meeting, for your safety and that of others. Later that evening, kick off the journey with a welcome dinner.

Day 3 – At Sea
Cross the open sea towards the Falkland Islands. Enjoy the in-depth lectures and keep an eye out for wildlife from deck.

Day 4 – The Falkland Islands
The Falkland Islands teem with wildlife, and offer clear blue skies, vast vistas, and stunning white-sand beaches. Stanley makes an excellent starting point for excursions on offer. The vessel will be docked in the capital the entire day, giving you time to discover on foot, as most shops and services are clustered around the port. Or you can join an excursion to explore the wilderness and wildlife in the surrounding area.

Day 5 – The Falkland Islands
As you reach some of the further outposts in the Falklands, you will see remote farms that have been family-owned for generations. Penguins waddle along the beaches here, often coming close to you to take a look out of curiosity, and even posing for photos! Conditions permitting, you will be able to go ashore to explore the area on hikes and to spot some of the many bird species that live there.

Day 6 – The Falkland Islands
Enjoy one final day exploring the Falkland Islands, where the Natural World rules, before heading toward your next destination.

Day 7 – At Sea
Spend two days cruising to beautiful South Georgia. Along the way you can participate in lectures about the area’s wildlife, whaling, and polar history. The Expedition Team is well-versed in every facet of South Georgia, from its geology and glaciology to the mating rituals of seals and the legends of the Norwegian whalers.

Day 8 – At Sea
During your second day of cruising the South Atlantic to South Georgia, you will also learn how to make your visit as safe and as sustainable as possible. Join Citizen Science programs to help collect data for current scientific research.

Day 9 – South Georgia Island
Explore the thriving ecosystem and rich history of South Georgia Island. The area is known as the Serengeti of the Southern Ocean and is a world-famous location for wildlife photographers. South Georgia’s unique position inside the Antarctic ecosystem - yet outside the limit of sea ice - makes an ideal home for tens of millions of breeding penguins, seals and seabirds.

Day 10 – South Georgia Island
During your stay at South Georgia, you will see adult seals lounge on the sand while their pups race in and out of the water, albatross soar overhead, and penguins cluster in their thousands. Enjoy the sight of hanging glaciers, cliffs, and scenic lagoons.

Day 11 – South Georgia Island
You will have the opportunity to visit a museum, the Norwegian seaman’s church, and the grave of explorer Sir Ernest Shackleton. South Georgia also offers good hiking, and a popular trail follows part of Shakleton´s route on his brave journey across rugged mountains to find help for the 22 men left on isolated Elephant Island.

Day 12 – South Georgia Island
Continue the exploration of South Georgia Island. The history is as fascinating as the dramatic landscapes, with early explorer Captain James Cook claiming the land for the British in 1775. Visit the ghost town of Grytviken, where a now abandoned whaling station was established.

Day 13 – South Georgia Island
The final day of exploring South Georgia Island, an island as unique as it is unforgettable. Natural and human history coalesce to make it one of the most intriguing places in the Antarctic region.

Day 14 – At Sea, Towards Antarctica
Heading towards Antarctica, learn more about the wonders of the Great White Continent, focusing on the history, environment and wildlife of the region. Using the state-of-the-art microscopes in the ship’s Science Center, you can also analyse samples taken during the expedition cruise to see another kind of ‘wildlife’ at the cellular level.

Day 15 – At Sea, Toward Antarctica
A second day at sea as the vessel continues the journey to Antarctica.

Day 16 – Antarctica - Another World!
You might have read about Antarctica or watched a documentary or two. You might even have taken detailed notes in the onboard lectures during the crossing. But nothing prepares you for when you see it yourself. Welcome to an endless wilderness of ice, icebergs, and glaciers. A place where nature is king and mortals are mere observers. Perhaps the most surprising part of Antarctica is the silence. Its stillness is broken from time to time by the only locals on the continent.
The Expedition Team will lead ice-cruising and landings at every opportunity to come ashore and explore the impressive Antarctic scenery.

Day 17 – Antarctica - Another World
Antarctica is wilderness on a massive scale. It is home to 90 per cent of the world´s ice, reaching up to 13,000 feet in thickness. Winter sea ice virtually doubles the size of the continent. In summer, Antarctica is a breeding ground for millions of penguins, whales and seals.

Day 18 – Antarctica - Another World
As outlined in the Antarctic Treaty, this is a continent dedicated to peace, science and tourism. No human activity permitted that can alter the perfect natural balance that has evolved through millennia without interference. That´s why Hurtigruten follow very strict environmental guidelines and rules - leave nothing but footprints and take nothing but pictures. Wherever you are able to explore, the sights and sounds of Antarctica are sure to stay with you for a lifetime!

Day 19 – Antarctica - Another World
Continue the exploration of Antarctica. You will have the opportunity to book additional activities on board, such as extended hikes, kayaking through the Antarctic waters, or snowshoing. While observing from the deck, there are great chances to spot whales. Of course, this is true wilderness, so nature is in charge, but the experienced captain will work with the elements to create the best possible itinerary for the guests adventure.

Day 20 – Antarctica - Another World
Enjoy the last day in Anarctica, exploring the exciting possibilities nature and wildlife offer.

Day 21 – The Drake Passage
After five days exploring this exhilarating continent, set the course back to civilization. Spend the day at sea recapping your experiences, having fun in the Science Center or just relaxing on deck, spotting the many sea birds which follow the ship. The lecture series will also continue during this part of the journey.

Day 22 – Drake Passage
Continue the return to civilization as you complete the crossing of the Drake Passage and head towards Ushuaia.

The end of the adventure! The expedition cruise makes landfall in Tierra del Fuego early morning,and your journey ends with your transfer to the airport and flight back to Buenos Aires.
