Day By Day

Day 1 – Arrival in San Miguel De Allende

Your driver will meet you on arrival to the Leon Airport. Transfer to your hotel by private vehicle.

Day 2 – San Miguel City and Artisan Studio Tour

Your personal guide will meet you at your hotel to start your day exploring the colorful historic center of San Miguel de Allende. You will visit the iconic central plaza, where locals come to gather and chat under the shade of the trees before going inside San Miguel’s famous pink church (Parroquia de San Miguel Arcangel) that boasts gothic-style architecture. Next, you will visit art galleries and contemporary art studios at 'La Aurora' and also prepare for an experience that will allow you to observe first-hand Mexican artisans working on their art and crafts, visiting the Institute of Culture to observe the students working on their art pieces. Admire the traditional and unique process of how rugs are made using wool, in the workshop of a local family’s home.

Depending on time and interest you may also be able to visit the Cultural Center of Arts school, a paper mache shop and the handicap artist studio of arts and crafts. This experience will be custom designed according to availability of the artisans and based on traveler’s particular interests. Upon completion of your visit you will be taken back to your hotel. Note that lunch is not included today.

Day 3 – San Miguel Market Tour with Cooking Class and Dos Buhos Vineyard Tour and Deluxe Wine Pairing

Start your experience with a 10 minute walk from your hotel to the class. Today's private cooking class focuses on recipes that can be recreated at home. You will learn about Mexican cuisine and ingredients while visiting the local market with the chef and sourcing the ingredients that you will cook with later. The chef will teach you how to find the freshest and best ingredients and will help you to identify some local fruits and vegetables.

Returning to the kitchen you will be given step-by-step instructions on how to make salsas and salads that can be enjoyed with hand-made tortillas.

Delve into the enthralling world of Mexican wines with a nighttime visit to boutique winery, Dos Buhos, located just outside San Miguel de Allende. Begin the evening with a guided tour of the property and its wine making facilities, learning about the manufacturing process and the blossoming Mexican wine industry. Afterwards, spend a magical evening as you enjoy a light, gourmet dinner accompanied by a selection of four wine pairings. As you sink into the night, chat, laugh, and enjoy the delicious spread of cold-cuts, six local cheeses, and quiche Lorraine.

Tonights experience includes a tour with degustation of one Sangria, four wines and one liquor, one bottle of wine per two persons (house’s selection), six different local cheeses paired with an organic wine, cold-cuts, carrot muffin, gourmet oatmeal/chocolate cookie, quiche Lorraine, organic salad, and gratuities.

Day 4 – Guanajuato Full Day City Tour

Start your day exploring the colorful capital of the state by the same name. Lead by your guide explore the historical center, visiting the statue of Pipila, one of the earliest heroes of the revolution, the Juarez Theater with its roof crowned with Greek muses and the narrow Alley of the Kiss, where you will learn about the love story that gives the street its name. Stroll the streets of the city with its underground passageways and if time allows you will visit some of the multiple museums of the city and the workshop of renowned local artist Gorky Gonzalez. After your tour, you will be returned to your hotel.

Day 5 – San Miguel de Allende Day At Leisure and Evening Food Tour

San Miguel de Allende, a small colonial town located in the high chaparral of Mexico's Sierra Madre Mountains, is emerging as an international cultural hub for known for its artists as well as its gourmet chefs, contemporary designers and architecture. It is located in the El Bajio section of the state of Guanajuato, known as the 'breadbasket' replete with endless farms, vineyards and cattle ranches. Around San Miguel itself, there are 5 organic farms and several wineries as well as cheese makers, a grass-fed cattle ranch, and a plethora of goat farms. The urban demand for great, organic, quality food is easily met with neighbouring farms connecting the greater community and visitors to an abundant food source.

Start your journey with a 10 minute walk from your hotel. Meet a local chef at La Parroquia (they’ll be the person wearing a chef’s hat and apron!) for a deliciously adventurous insider’s tour around El Centro’s culinary delights. Throughout the evening adventure, meet local chefs, sample tasting plates, and enjoy cocktails in some of San Miguel de Allende’s most beloved eateries.

Start the tour with some unique vegetarian tacos at Don Taco Tequila, an entirely plant-based eatery with a gift for creating amazing salsas. Next, visit a leading Oaxacan restaurant to try one of the best guacamoles in town and sample artisanal mezcal from the region. Also try Oaxacan specialties, such as chapulines (grasshoppers), flor de calabaza (squash blossom), or fried quesadillas with epazote, freshly brought in from the gastronomically rich southern state by Chef Mario. Move on to a local treasure – a charming rooftop bar – to enjoy a sunset cocktail with chile and cacao or a unique elixir from the best mixologist around. From there, head to The Bar at the R where top chef, Donnie Masterton, awaits with several small plates fusing Mexican and Asian cuisine, such as scallop ceviche and sushi rolls. To finish, choose between a delicious dessert or a drink at a mezcal bar.

Day 6 – Depart San Miguel De Allende

Ahead of your flight you will be transferred by an English speaking driver from your San Miguel hotel to Bajio Airport in Leon to connect with your departing flight.
