Day By Day

Day 1 – Arrive in Florence, Time at Leisure

Welcome to Florence. Upon arrival please make your way into the arrivals hall where you will be met by a local representative. An English speaking driver will transfer you by private vehicle from the airport to your city accommodation.

Florence, capital of Italy’s Tuscany region, is home to many masterpieces of Renaissance art and architecture. The most popular and important sites in Florence include the Cathedral, the Baptistery, the Uffizi, the Bargello, and the Accademia. The churches of Santa Maria Novella and Santa Croce are veritable art galleries, and the library of San Lorenzo is a magnificent exhibition of Michelangelo's architectural genius. Wander some of the oldest streets in the city until you reach the Arno River, cross the Ponte Vecchio, and experience the 'newest' area of Florence, the Oltrarno. Be sure to set aside time to see the vast and varied art collection housed in the Pitti Palace. When you grow weary of museums and monuments, head outdoors. Spend a day at the Boboli Gardens or climb the hill to the church of San Miniato al Monte to experience an enchanting view of Florence, Italy.

Day 2 – Florence to Chianti, Time at Leisure

Today enjoy a leisurely transfer from Florence to Chianti. Transfer time is approximately 1 hour 10 minutes by road.

A day at leisure to enjoy the Chianti Wine Country. You may decide to relax and enjoy the facilities where you are staying, or explore some of the region on your own.

Day 3 – Siena and Cooking Class, Chianti

Today, enjoy a full day excursion to visit the Tuscan Jewel of Siena. Siena is a beautiful town of medieval origin, characterized by the orange-brown color of its land and buildings. In the Piazza del Duomo, admire the Cathedral, with its coating of white-black marble that dominates the entire plaza. Your guide will cover the city and its' people in a fascinating itinerary that alternates popular districts and rich noble palaces, fountains, towers, arches and artisan workshop, up to the Piazza del Campo.

This afternoon, enjoy a fun Tuscan cooking class in a lovely estate in the Chianti countryside (about 30 minutes drive from your property). Participate in a long family tradition combined with culinary excellence of the territory to create an unforgettable dining experience. Enjoy, in a refined restaurant surrounded by vineyards, the excellence of traditional Tuscan cuisine along with the best wines of the area. You will experience an unparalleled sensory journey that begins with the enthrallment of the Wine Experience, guided tours of the vineyards and wineries with pleasant tasting of fine wines, contining into the modern and refined Restaurant. At the end of the class, you will eat your own dinner, prepared by your hands!

Day 4 – Val d’ Orcia Excursion

Today is a full day excursion to the beautiful Tuscan town of Montepulciano. A private driver will pick you up at your hotel and drive you to Val D’Orcia. The area is known for producing wine as far back as the Roman Empire. However, the Nobile di Montepulciano in the 20th century has been surpassed by popularity and prestige by the newly developed Brunello Di Montalcino. You will learn and experience yourself the main differences between these two wines and will also appreciate the high quality of the Nobile.

You will visit two famous local wine estates in Montepulciano. Let yourself be guided through the vineyards and the cellar, follow the path of the wine from harvest to refinement. Finally you can relax by tasting the selection of the best wines. In the afternoon you will enjoy a wine tasting in one of the best producers of Brunello from Montalcino, the winery is a leader in various, important innovations in the production of Sangiovese from Montalcino, causing it to stand out and become a reference point for the entire territory.

Day 5 – Chianti Wine Country At Leisure

A day at leisure to enjoy the Chianti Wine Country. You may decide to relax and enjoy the facilities where you are staying, or explore some of the region on your own.

Day 6 – Bolgheri Wine Estates Excursion

The little village of Bolgheri is located a few kilometers south-west of Livorno. Today, the entire day will be dedicated to the Northern part of Maremma, around the little village of Bolgheri, that from almost total obscurity in a wine-sense became ultra-fashionable over the past 30 years with the rise of the Sassicaia and other Supertuscans phenomenon. You will visit one of the pioneer wine makers in this area, to recognize the enormous potential for quality of this soil and its unique position. The winery was founded in 1981, in a beautiful, unspoiled part of Tuscany. From the outset, the mission was to produce outstanding wines. Since then passion and dedication, coupled with a unique territory and an extraordinary microclimate, have brought the winery's prestigious labels great success and recognition as one of the most important wineries in the world. You will also enjoy a visit and tasting at another of the pioneer wine makers in this area, to recognize the enormous potential for quality of this soil and its unique position.

Day 7 – Pienza Day Excursion

Today your driver will pick you up at your hotel and drive you through the most beautiful Tuscan landscape, Pienza in Val D’Orcia (recognized UNESCO Heritage site for the beauty and uniqueness of the landscape). The Val d’Orcia is characterized by gentle, carefully cultivated hills occasionally broken by gullies and by picturesque towns and villages. Along the streets, you will admire the succession of surprising landscapes: from rugged and irregular of the crete senesi to softer landscapes with hills, where vineyards, olive groves and cereal plantations continue and intertwine, giving origin to areas of rare beauty.

Enjoy a truffle hunting experience with experts to take you through the entire itinerary, from the digging up of the truffle, to processing and cooking it. The popular trees which grow there are very important because their roots encourage the production of the white truffle. At the end of the truffle hunt you will join a great convivial truffle lunch. Perhaps if interested, a cheese tasting at the farm: what better way to end an exciting farm tour than to have a glass of wine and some cheese and to enjoy the stunning view of Val d’Orcia from the former cow-stable-turned-dining-room? All of the products served are explained so that you can truly enjoy feasting on different types of raw milk cheeses, homemade bread and extra virgin olive oil.

Day 8 – High Speed Train Florence to Naples

Ahead of your rail journey, you will be transferred from your accommodation in Chianti to Florence Railway Station by private vehicle. Travel by high speed train from Florence to Naples. It takes an average of 3 hours 48 minutes to travel from Florence Firenze Santa Maria Novella Station to Naples Centrale Station by train, over a distance of around 254 miles (408 kilometers).

You will transferred by private vehicle from Naples Train Station to your Positano accommodation for check in.

Day 9 – Pompeii and Winery Excursion

An English speaking driver will collect you from your hotel to take you on an excursion to visit the archaeological site of Pompeii and then for a stop at a vineyard’s company located on the south-west side of the Vesuvian volcanic area. In the morning you will arrive at Pompeii for a private guided visit of the Archaeological site. The city of Pompeii, before the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 A.D., was an important commercial center. The fury of Mount Vesuvius buried the entire city under a layer of ashes: thus, today, almost 2000 years later, one can discover the undisturbed city and life in those times. Departing from the Piazza del Foro, formerly the center of life of Pompeii, the expert guide will take you through the ancient Temples, the Thermal baths, the Market and the majestic Theatre. You will see the houses of Roman aristocrats, where you can admire some of the most beautiful existing Roman frescos.

You will then continue your tour with a visit to a vineyard company, where you may enjoy a wine tasting and lunch with a homemade Menù. Return to Positano by your private car, with the rest of the day and evening at your leisure.

Day 10 – Positano At Leisure

The Path of the Golds is a suggested activity for you to do on your day of leisure.

The beautiful walk will start in a little village between Positano and Amalfi (you will be provided with instructions to enjoy this path on your own today). After walking 40 minutes you will reach the first stop: The Monastery of San Domenico, situated in a charming position at around 400 meters above sea level, where you can visit the 16th century Dominican cloister. This is also an ideal spot to admire the local Flora and crops. Walk a further 30 to 45 minutes to the 'Path of the Gods': walk through very unique wild Mediterranean bush, coastal forests and caves suspended between the sky and the deep blue sea. After about 2 hours you will arrive in Nocelle, a small village of just 300 inhabitants, left untouched thanks to the limited access to cars. Here you can enjoy a light lunch in a lovely local restaurant. If you are willing to walk about 60 minutes more you will reach Positano or alternatively a local bus will take you back.

Day 11 – Positano, Italy At Leisure

Today will be at your own leisure, to relax and enjoy the enchanting atmosphere of the lovely village of Positano. The urban structure of Positano is made of terraces, of small narrow and winding streets and of homes climbing the hillside. Typical are the many 'steps' from the city center that come down to the beach. The main beaches of Positano are the Spiaggia Grande and Fornillo, both reachable on foot. Laze in the sun, do some shopping in Positano's colorful boutiques, and enjoy a Delizia al Limone!

Day 12 – Paestum Tour

Today, your English speaking driver will collect you from your hotel in a private van and drive you to Paestum, a UNESCO Heritage Site. It was an ancient city of Magna Graecia, which preserves superb examples of Greek temples, in Doric and Ionic styles. Founded by the Greeks around 600 BC, it was originally called Poseidonia, named after the Greek god of the sea, Poseidon. Between 400 and 273, it was occupied by an Italic population of Lucania. In 273, it became a Roman colony under the name of Paestum.

For lunch, you will visit a Mozzarella Cheese farm and taste the renowned Mozzarella di Bufala (Buffalo Mozzarella). After eating the delicious cheese, you will stroll around the property and see the large buffalos up close. By watching the experienced cheesemakers, you can appreciate the passion that is needed to make this excellent cheese. To conclude, you will have the opportunity to try freshly made mozzarella. Return to your hotel for an evening at leisure.

Day 13 – Boat Tour Amalfi to Positano

Today is an amazing sightseeing experience: a boat tour along the Coast from Positano to Amalfi. Cruise along this spectacular coast with its dramatic cliffs from Positano to Amalfi with the possibility to visit Emerald Grotto (entrance charge additional to pay direct). After this incredible day in a private boat with English speaking skipper, you will get back to the Hotel for the evening at leisure.

Day 14 – Travel to to Sant’Agata sui Due Golfi and Dinner at Hotel Don Alfonso, Tasting Menu

Today enjoy a leisurely transfer by private vehicle from Positano to Sant'Agata sui Due Golfi. Transfer time is approximately 40 minutes by road.

This evening, enjoy a dinner tasting menu at the 2 star Michelin restaurant of the hotel.

Day 15 – High Speed Train Naples to Florence and Discover Oltrarno Neighborhood

Transfer from the Hotel to the train station in Napoli by taxi boat with English speaking driver.

Travel by high speed train from Naples to Florence. It takes an average of 3 hours 48 minutes to travel from Naples Centrale Station to Florence Firenze Santa Maria Novella Station by train, over a distance of around 254 miles (408 kilometers).

This afternoon is at leisure for you to explore the Oltrarno (literally "The other side of the Arno river") neighborhood, where you can enjoy the true Florentine atmosphere, away from the touristic areas. Florence is known for its artisans but, sadly, most in the center have been pushed out by souvenir shops and touristy trattorias. Head across the Arno and go back to a time where chain stores weren’t the norm. The whole area around the Piazza di Santo Spirito still thrums with artisanal traditions. Some of the typical products you would find bookbinding and handmade marbled paper, handcrafted mosaics; handmade and bespoke ladies’ shoes and purses, handmade jewelry. Even if you’re not planning to buy, it's worth a visit.

Day 16 – Depart Florence

Ahead of your flight, you will be transferred by private vehicle from your Florence accommodation to Florence Airport for check in.
