Day 3 – Authentic Ubud Nature Walk
Enjoy a trek with a specialist farmer guide for an insiders view into rural Balinese life. Travel to Pejeng village situated on the outskirts of Ubud. Located between two rivers this small village is surrounded by rice paddies that cascade down the hillside in lush green terraces. On arrival meet Nyoman, a local farmer who will be your expert guide during the adventure. He will guide you through his traditional village and show you the different types of houses and temples. As you walk through the tiered rice fields hear all about the subak system, an ancient irrigation system that has been in use since the 9th century. Pass by farmers tending to their crops, women washing their clothes in the river, and children playing games with homemade toys. Stop for a cooling drink of fresh coconut off the tree before enjoying a simple picnic lunch in Nyoman's traditional bale. During lunch Nyoman will tell you stories and interesting anecdotes about village life giving you an in-depth insight into Balinese culture and traditions.

The rest of the afternoon is at your leisure to explore Ubud. The island's friendly people, Hindu culture, rhythmic dances, volcanoes, sculptured rice paddies, beautiful jungle and mountain scenery, and spectacular beaches-combined with a wide array of accommodations-make it one of the most fascinating places in the world.

Starting Accommodation: Komaneka Resort at Monkey Forest (B, L)

Day 4 – Volcano, Temple & Terrances

During this full day tour discover the culture, countryside and stunning scenery of Bali. Start the day with a performance of the famous Barong and Keris Dance. This traditional Balinese dance narrates the fight between good and evil and is a classic example of the Balinese way of blending myth and history into one reality.

Drive to Tampak Siring to visit the unique temple of Gunung Kawi. Set at the bottom of a lush green river valley, these 11th century temples feature 10 rock cut shrines, called candi, carved into the cliff face. The awe inspiring shrines combine ancient Hindu and Buddhist temple attributes. Walk down the many stairs to the temple taking in the views of the terraced rice fields along the way.

Continue to Kintamani set around the rim of the Gunung Batur crater. Look out over Bali's most active volcano, Mount Batur, which rises over 1800 meters into the sky. In the center is a beautiful turquoise green lake which is the largest lake on the island. After a late lunch in a local restaurant, drive south with a stop in Tegalalang to see Bali's most iconic rice terraces where you enjoy a coffee break.

Starting Accommodation: Komaneka Resort at Monkey Forest (B, L)

Day 5 – Ubud to Jimbaran
Today you will be transferred from your Ubud hotel to Jimbaran Bay.

Once you check in to your resort the rest of your day is at leisure. The island's friendly people, Hindu culture, rhythmic dances, volcanoes, sculptured rice paddies, beautiful jungle and mountain scenery, and spectacular beaches-combined with a wide array of accommodations-make it one of the most fascinating places in the world. It's a magical place-despite the ever-expanding, crowded and commercialized tourist spots on the southern coast.

Starting Accommodation: Ayana Resort and Spa Bali (B)

Day 6 – At leisure, Jimbaran
Bali is famous for its handicrafts, too-its own as well as those it draws from all over Indonesia. Most of the Balinese handicraft production is focused in the Ubud area and the larger Gianyar region in the south. Each village specializes in a different craft-Celuk in gold and silver, Batuan in miniature paintings and Pengosekan in larger, more boldly colored paintings of traditional village life. Most of these villages are on the way to Ubud from Denpasar.

The best way to see the 'real' Bali is to head inland, past rice terraces and across the lush countryside. Any of the resorts can be used as a base to explore the island's sights, but bear in mind that Bali is not a small island, and unless you want to spend all day traveling, it is a good idea to limit day trips to within three hours of where you're staying.

Starting Accommodation: Ayana Resort and Spa Bali (B)

Day 7 – Bali Adventure by Land Cruiser

Venture off the beaten track and experience rural Bali away from the tourist crowds. In the morning meet your English speaking driver and climb into the Land Cruiser ready to start the exploration of Bali s more uninhabited regions.

Navigating narrow roads and tracks pass through authentic Balinese villages where the farmers can be seen working in the rice fields. Drive along rough muddy tracks through the lush fields surrounding Mount Batukaru, Bali s second highest mountain.

Stops will be made at a rural farmhouse to see the traditional way of life, at a hot mineral spring full of steaming water at gardens where tropical spices and herbs are grown, and at a natural stone quarry where the villagers have been cutting the stone out of the dry river bed for generations.

At midday enjoy a Balinese lunch in a restaurant located in the middle of a tranquil rain forest. Finish off with a cup of locally grown mountain coffee laced with a shot of cognac before returning to your hotel.

Starting Accommodation: Ayana Resort and Spa Bali (B, L)

Day 8 – Royal Temple, Monkey Forest & Floating Temple Tour
This afternoon tour takes you to the outskirt of Denpasar, Bali's Capital city to visit a Batik processing center. The art of Batik, which incorporates a delicate process of drawing, waxing and dyeing is an ancient art indigenous to Indonesia. The fabric was once the exclusive attributes to the royal families are now a national pride of the population. The tour will proceed to the village of Mengwi with the 17th century Taman Ayun temple, a legacy of its glorious kingdom's era. Visit the nearby sacred monkey forest of Alas Kedaton. The afternoon will be ended with a spectacular sunset at Tanah Lot temple.

Starting Accommodation: Ayana Resort and Spa Bali (B)
