Camels to A Night at Field of Light

World renowned artist, Bruce Munro has chosen the remote desert location surrounding Ayers Rock Resort for his 2016/2017 Field of Light installation. Field of Light is a monumental and experimental artwork which will see 50,000 slender stems crowned with radiant frosted-glass spheres, connected via illuminated optical fiber bloom as darkness falls over the spiritual heartland of Australia's vast desert with Uluru as the backdrop. Prior to sundown, you will be collected from your hotel and transferred to the Uluru Camel Farm. Meander for one hour through red sand dunes on your friendly camel, while your experienced cameleer describes the unique flora and fauna of the landscape that surrounds you. At the end of your ride, you will be greeted as you arrive at the sand dune viewing platform where your 'A Night at Field of Light' experience begins. With Uluru as the backdrop, enjoy canapés and chilled sparkling wine to the sounds of a didgeridoo as the sun slowly sets. As darkness gradually falls and the colored lights of the 50,000 glass spheres come to life guests enjoy local Indigenous performance, welcoming them to this unique country, before joining fellow travelers at the dinner table for a special three-course bush tucker inspired buffet menu. A knowledgeable guide will provide insights and background to the monumental installation and guests are invited to immerse themselves and walk through Field of Light. After dinner guests return to the dune viewing area to enjoy a sweet treat, hot chocolate or port whilst viewing the illuminated installation in the darkness.
