Day By Day

Today you will begin your Swain Destinations customized itinerary. Please note, international air has not been included in this package price.

Day 2 – Welcome to Dubai, UAE
Upon arrival into Dubai, will be met after you have cleared customs and immigration and driven by way of private vehicle to your hotel.

Glitzy, glam, and over-the-top, this city-state is a fascinating mix of old and new, where flashy shopping malls rise up alongside flavorful old-world souks (outdoor markets). The United Arab Emirates is a country with both a record-setting building boom (the tallest building in the world will be completed in Dubai in 2009) and a still-vibrant Bedouin culture, one that learned to survive in harsh desert conditions for hundreds of years.

Starting Accommodation: Fairmont Dubai

Day 3 – Dubai City Touring
Dubai City Tour
A fascinating historical excursion. Our route takes us to the magnificent Jumeirah mosque; past modern palaces sprawled along the coast.  In Bastakia we stop for a while to admire the old wind-tower houses built by wealthy merchants. Close by, stands the 150-year old Al Fahidi Fort. Here, the Dubai Museum records the city's past as an important pearl diving and trading center.  We continue our journey by Abra - local water taxi.  As we cross the Creek we see the modern metropolis with its splendid architecture dwarfing the bustling alleys of our next destination, the gold and spice souks.

Afternoon at Leisure
This afternoon is at leisure to explore Dubai. Dubai's tourism appeal includes big-time horse races and sporting events, a month-long shopping festival and a skyline that commands the attention of Dubai's visitors-not to mention such fascinating hotels as Dubai's own Burj Al Arab. For jaded, been-there-done-that tourists, Dubai, on the Persian Gulf, can throw in camel racing, sand boarding, sand skiing, ice-skating, snow skiing and unique cultural activities that appeal to visitors.

Dubai's rapid transformation has left it with a slice of old Arabia and a chunk of modern infrastructure. In Dubai, you'll find souks selling gold jewelry and traditional wares not far from modern shopping centers selling electronics and luxury items. Visitors to Dubai will also see wind towers and minarets rising up from old neighborhoods, dwarfed in turn by Dubai's office and hotel towers.

But the biggest contrast can be seen in Dubai's landscape: A beautiful coastline and beaches are backed by an equally expansive desert, which in itself is a magnificent paradox of impressive sand dunes and starkly beautiful mountains.
